DDS Graphics

What kind of graphics card should I buy for my needs?

I currently have an integrated Nvidia GeForce 6150 SE nForce 430 into my motherboard, but I want a better one. I run Windows Vista and I like to play video games, so obviously I need a big juicy graphics card :) But there are so many models and everything, so which card is best for me? Should I even stick with Nvidia? My budget is around 200 bucks.

  1. Currently the best bang for the buck in video cards are the cards based on the nVidia 8800GT graphic processing unit. They retail for $270-$330. In your price range, the best performing card is based on the nVidia 8600GTS graphic processing unit. Here is the card you should get: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814186022 For $110 after rebate you are getting a LOT of card. Mixing nVidia and AMD (they own ATI now) is not something that I recommend, so stick with nVidia - at the moment they are the perfomance kings anyway.
  2. Spend a bit more and get the GeForce 8800 GT , It's the only card to get right now
