Is overclocking your graphics card bad for the card, or the computer?
I recently bought a new game The witcher, now my computer is old but not that old. My graphics card is an WinFast A6600 GT , how much should i overclock it so it runs smoothly, or even runs at all (because it wont run for longer than 30 mins due to the low virtual memory) also any tips or links to overclocking would help. Cheers mate.

- It is bad for the video card only. If the game won't run more than 30 min then it is possible that the graphics card is over heating and it is not because of the clock speed. If the graphics card is slow then a game should still run normally 'except' that the game will lag . the best program for overclocking is rivertuner but it may not support every graphics card.
- Overclocking your graphics card can basically only melt or damage your graphics card alone. However, it is possible that the execcive heat put off by your graphics card could damage other components of your computer. Nothing to worry about for the most part, but keep it in mind, especially if you are overclocking other components of your computer. As for overclocking it - it is usually best to get a good graphics card that is good for the money that comes overclock prepared. these overclock much nicer.
