DDS Graphics

Are there any good tips to making graphics for on sites?

I want to learn how to make different siggys and different graphics, but I don't know how or what program to use. I use Windows Vista.

2. You can use Photoshop but it cost about $400. Instead use the completely free Gimp or even Microsoft's free but fairly limited Photoshop wannabe Paint.Net. For tutorials it took me about 10 seconds to find a bunch of good ones just by Googling "gimp tutorial signature". e.g. http://www.gimptalk.com/forum/topic/Full-Signature-Tutorial-5880-1.html
